Liang’s passion for music started very early when he began to learn gaohu at six years old. His mentor was Mr. Riqiang Chen from Huizhou Singing and Dancing Group, and he also studied with Prof. Maojian Chen from Xinghai Conservatory of Music and Prof. Qiwei Yu. In 1985, Liang was admitted into the Department of Chinese Music of Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and started to learn gaohu under masters On-Yuen Wong and Kah-Chi Loo. With his broad interest in music, Liang also plays guqin and sings Kunqu. He has learned Cantonese Naamyam, Cantonese Opera, Chinese Opera Luogu, and many other traditional instruments, which helped him to build up his basic skill of playing Chinese music. During his studies at Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, he won the championship in the Chinese Music competition. In 2008, Liang received his M.A. degree at the Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology of Tainan National University of the Arts. He is currently the concertmaster of TCTO.
In addition to his own music career, Liang also dedicates his life to teaching young talents. He serves as the instructor for many musically gifted children and led his students to win many prizes in national competitions.

Erhu | Wu,Chi-Feng

Wu was born in Tainan City in 1970. He graduated from the Department of Chinese Music of Chinese Culture University and the Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology of Tainan National University of the Arts, majoring in erhu. He has studied with professors Shu-Fen Chen, Chun-Ming Liu, and Cheng-An Yang. He also received the advice from masters Ru-Li An, Ta-Chung Li, Lin Zhu, and Ju-Chi Chen. Wu also studied his second major, Music Theory and Composition, with Liang-Hui Lu. He is currently the erhu player at TCTO, the art director of Contemporary Artists Ensemble, the erhu lecturer of many schools, and the conductor of several music groups.
After Wu was selected into TCTO in 2000, he began to play erhu in many solo and concerto performances. He also composed several songs and constantly held his own recitals. His music not only reflects his own emotion, but also reveals his mature and diverse music styles.
Wu,Chi-Feng Erhu

Erhu | Lee,Chia-Ying

Lee plays erhu in TCTO. She graduated from the Department of Chinese Music of Chinese Culture University in 2000, and then she entered the Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology of Tainan National University of the Arts in 2005. The mentor who introduced her into erhu was Ssu-Hsiung Yang. During her years in CCU, Lee majored in erhu and minored in piano, and her advisors at CCU were Jung-Tsan Wu and Li-Yin Chen.
In 1999, Lee held her first recital at the music hall of National Taichung Teachers College (now NTCU). In the same year, she was honored Rising Star of Chinese Music of CCU and performed Wishes of the People of Honghu Lake in National Concert Hall. In May 2000, she was invited to perform at the presidential inauguration of Chen Shui-Bian and at the international art festivals in the Netherlands and Italy. In September 2001, she traveled with TCTO to Keelung and Taoyuan to perform a duet. In 2004, she performed a concerto at Tainan Cultural Center and later held a recital at Guiren Cultural Center, which was widely acclaimed. In the December of the same year, she was invited by I-Shou University to perform in the United States. In 2005, she participated in the recording of the CD with TCTO. Later, several of her recitals continued to take place in Tainan in 2008, 2015 and 2016.
Lee currently works as the advisor for music talented classes and school clubs, and her students have won various prizes in many competitions.
Lee,Chia-Ying Erhu

Erhu | Chang,Wei-Ting

Chang is an erhu player in TCTO. He began to learn to play erhu by studying with his mentor Chin-Yu Chen and his instructor Yi-Feng Lin, and he has won many prizes. During his years in the Department of Chinese Music of Chinese Culture University, he majored in erhu and studied with professor Jung-Tsan Wu and Li-Yin Chen. Also, he minored in piano, studying with professor Shih-Chang Chen, and he minored in conducting, studying with professor Mark Graveson. Meanwhile, he studied clarinet with professor Wen-Chen Kung. In 2000, he served as the conductor of Combined Service Forces Military Band. From 2004, he began to perform in different recitals and concerts in Tainan. In 2012, he traveled to Japan to perform with TCTO. From 2013, he also started to participate in the design of digital media during musical concerts.
Chang,Wei-Ting Erhu

Liu is currently an erhu player of TCTO. As a child, she began her journey of music by attending classes for musically gifted students. After she graduated from junior high school, she entered the seven-year educational system of Tainan National University of the Arts, and she is a student of the Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology of Tainan National University of the Arts right now. Liu majored erhu in college and has studied with professors Che-Yu Cheng, Shu-Chi Cheng, Li-Ting Peng, and Lu-Feng Ting. She also minored in cello, studying with professor Fu-Kai Tsai, and in piano, studying with professors Ssu-Yin Chen, Chun-Chi Huang, Pei-Chuan Tsai, Kuo-Lan Ssu, and Po-Chung Lin. Liu also plays morin khuur and computer music. Recently, she dedicates her life into teaching and performing.
From 2001, Liu has won many prizes in different music competitions. In 2008, she held her own erhu and morin khuur recital. In 2015, she traveled to the United States to perform at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.

Tzu-Wen Wang was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and she is currently a member of TCTO, playing zhonghu. She first learned to play erhu at the age of ten and studied with Ssu-Hsiung Yang and Ming-Kun Chiang. After she graduated from the Chinese Music Department of Tainan National University of the Arts, she entered the Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology of Tainan National University of the Arts and received her M.A. degree. Wang studied with Prof. Lu-Feng Ding during that time and learned to play different kinds of huqins, compose, conduct, and play suona. She was awarded with several scholarships as well. After graduation, Wang continued her journey of playing huqins by going to China to study zhuiqin, morin khuur and sihu. Wang was once advised by the grandmaster Chi Bulag and performed on the show produced by CCTV. From 2000, she performed many times in concerto performances, and she held six solo recitals from 2001 to 2008. In the mean time, she traveled to the United States, Japan and China to perform and take part in competitions. In 2007, she was selected to perform at the “Shining Stars Concerts” with the Taipei Chinese Orchestra. In 2012, she performed at the “London 2012 Festival, BT River of Music’s Asia Stage” music festival.

Tung often encourages his students to cherish every minute to practice music. He entered the world of music by joining the Chinese Music Club during his years in National Tainan Second Senior High School, and ever since then he has emerged himself in the arts of traditional Chinese music. Finally, he found his calling, gehu, in the Chinese Music Club of National Cheng Kung University.
Tung started to play music rather late. Therefore, he treasures this opportunity more than anyone else. In order to perfect his skill, he studied with Ms. Hui-Chuan Ssu, Mr. Chao-Cheng Lin, and Prof. Chia-Min Chen. From 1991 to 2000, he was the leader of the bass group of TCTO. In 1996, 1998 and 1999, he traveled to the United States three times to perform with TCTO. In 1999, he went to New Zealand to perform with Kun Shan University. In 2000, he was officially admitted into TCTO and began his career as a professional musician, traveling all around the country and performing for a great amount of audience.

Chen majored in beigehu and studied with professors Wei-Che Chen and Yung-Ho Fu, and she minored in piano, studying with professors Kuang-Yen Cheng, An-Chi Liu, Tai-Chun Tseng, and Fang-Chin Lin. In 1997, she went to France to attend the Music Conservatory of Versailles, studying with Mr. Genne Arandet, and she graduated in 1999 with a silver medal. In 2002, she was admitted into the Music Conservatory of Rueil-Malmaison and studied with Mr. Dertrand Richard. During her years in France, she also learned from master Jead-Edond Pacquet, who was the concertmaster of Orchestre National de France, and Mr. Devy Erlih.

Liuqin | Yen,Tzu-Ying

Yen was born in Kaohsiung and is currently the liuqin player of TCTO. She began to learn piano at the age of six, and then she started to learn liuqin at the age of nine, studying with Ms. Shih-Ying Hsu and Ms. Wen-Pei Huang. She has also been instructed by masters Hui-Jan Wang and Hung-I Wang. Later, she graduated from the Chinese Music Department of Tainan National University of the Arts and minored in ruan, studying with professor I-Chien Chen.
Yen has won many national championships since 1992 and had her first recital in 2005. In 2008, she organized her own music group and began to perform with her group members. Yen was also a former member of Kaohsiung City Chinese Orchestra Second Group and Taiwan Philharmonic Chinese Orchestra, and a current member of Contemporary Artists Ensemble. In 2013, she was admitted into TCTO and continued to perform with the band till today.

Hsueh is a young Taiwanese pipa player and is currently a member of TCTO. She began to learn pipa with her mentor, Ms. Mei-Tuan Lu. She has also studied with professors Liang-Hsing Tang and Shih-Jung Wang. She was advised by many masters, including Liang-Mo Yu, Kuang-Tsu Li, Fan-Ti Wang, Yin Chen, Tzu-Ching Wang, and Wei-Wei Lan. Hsueh graduated from Tainan National University of the Arts and received her M.A. degree at the Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology, National Taiwan Normal University.
During her school years, Hsueh was an outstanding student, who received several scholarships and won various championships. In 2008, she was selected the “Star of TNUA.” She has collaborated with many music groups, including Tainan Symphony Orchestra, Southern Taiwan Pops Orchestra and Kaohsiung City Youth Chinese Orchestra. She has also held her own recitals in National Concert Hall in Taipei.
Recently, she was invited to perform oversea many times, and she has traveled to Japan, Germany, the Netherland, and the United States. In 2015, she performed at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and received great responses.

田佳玉,任職於臺南市民族管絃樂團專任揚琴演奏員。畢業於臺南市新民國小音樂班、南新國中音樂班、國立臺南藝術大學七年一貫制中國音樂學系,現為臺南藝術大學中國音樂學系碩士生,主修揚琴,師事賴秀宜老師,曾師事謝從馨、齊興亞老師,並陸續接受中國揚琴演奏家李玲玲、許學東、張高翔、王瑟、王玉珏老師指導。曾副修鋼琴,師事王錦蓮、陳淑蓉、董彥君、陳倩芬老師。
曾於2011年榮獲中華民國國樂學會揚琴獨奏成人組第一名;同年於國家演奏廳演出【兩廳院傳統器樂新秀 – 絲竹室內樂音樂會】;2012年榮獲首屆中國揚琴藝術節邀請賽揚琴獨奏專業青年B組金獎,並於中國杭州藝術學校【首屆中國揚琴藝術節】閉幕式音樂會擔任揚琴獨奏,演出《引子與迴旋隨想曲》;同年也榮獲臺南市音樂比賽揚琴獨奏大專A組第一名;2013年榮獲全國音樂比賽揚琴獨奏大專A組特優第一名;同年於新營文化中心音樂廳舉辦【琴深】田佳玉揚琴鋼琴獨奏會;2015年於臺南大學演出【弦上精靈】,擔任揚琴獨奏首演《漠舞》;同年隨金成愛樂青年團於新營文化中心演出【暢琴歌】,擔任揚琴協奏《狂想曲》。

Su graduated from the Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology of Tainan National University of the Arts and the Department of Chinese Music of Chinese Culture University. His mentors were Hung-Ling Chen, Wen-Pei Huang, and Prof. Tsung-te Tsai.
From 1994 to 2014, Su went on several music tours in music halls in Hong Kong, Japan, America and China, and he cooperated with many well-known conductors to perform zhongruan and liuqin concertos. In the meanwhile, he founded his own band and led the band to perform numerous charity shows and annual concerts.
Su is the former member of Kaohsiung City Chinese Orchestra and Taipei Liuqin Ensemble. He is currently the leader his band, the leader of plucked string group in TCTO, and a conductor. He also teaches traditional Chinese music in Houjia Elementary School, Tsaiwen Elementary School and other schools. At the same time, he volunteers to teach music in St. Raphael Opportunity Center.

Huang was born in Tainan City, and she is currently a daruan player of TCTO. She first met traditional Chinese music when she was in junior high school, and she later graduated from Tainan National University of the Arts, majoring in zhongruan. She has studied with professors Shao-Hsiang Liu, Wei-I Tseng, Wen-Chieh Wang, and I-Chien Chen. She also minored in pipa, studying with professors Jo-Chiao Huang, Wen-Chieh Wang, and Kuo-Wei Mao, and minored in sanxian, studying with professor Shao-Hsiang Liu. Huang also dedicates her life to teaching music in schools and communities.
During her music career, Huang has rich experience in competitions and performances, receiving many awards in national music competitions. She has traveled to Perth, Australia, Japan, and China to perform. Meanwhile, she often collaborated with different music groups such as Contemporary Artists Ensemble and Kaohsiung City Chinese Orchestra.

Chen is currently a xindi player at TCTO. He entered the seven-year educational system of Tainan National University of the Arts right after junior high school and has been studying with professor Chung-Shen Chen since then. He also studied with professor Kuang-Yu Hou, Zhen Li, and Rusong Du. After graduating from college, he went on to pursue his master’s degree with outstanding grades and received his M.A. degree at the Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology of Tainan National University of the Arts. During his school years, he was selected as “Star of TNUA” many times and was awarded with several scholarships. Chen has won many prizes during national competitions, and he was selected as the “Young Star” by National Theater and Concert Hall because of his excellent performance. Recently, he is constantly invited to perform with different music groups, including National Chinese Orchestra Taiwan, Taipei Youth Chinese Orchestra, Chiuko Chinese Orchestra…etc.

Influenced by his mother, who was an actress of Chinese Opera, Wu began to learn to play dizi at a young age with Pu-Teng Kuo, I-Chiao Huang, and Hsing-Chien Cheng. After being selected into TCTO, he was encouraged by the masters Xunfa Yu and Ya Dai, and the art director of TCTO, Chin-Hui Lee, and decided to pursue his further studies in Tainan National University of the Arts. During his time at TNUA, he improved his skill by studying with professors Chung-Shen Chen and Zhen Li.
Wu has been constantly invited to perform in various occasions. In 1990, he went to Zhejiang, Hangzhou to follow the grandmaster of dizi Songting Zhao and other masters to study the art of dizi. In 1991, he released his first album, and in 1992, he went to the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and spent the next two years in China in order to perfect his technique. In 1994, he came back to Tainan and performed at Tainan Cultural Center. In 1998, he traveled with TCTO to tour in severl cities in the United States, including New York, Washington D.C., Orlando, and Saint José.

Liu was inspired by professor Mu-Yen Liu and began to learn dizi. In 1995, he went to Shanghai to study with master Xunfa Yu, and he built up his basic skill, learned a lot about different playing techniques and styles at that time. In 1998, he and his mentor Xunfa Yu held a teacher-student recital. In 2000, he co-wrote a collection of sheet music played by Xunfa Yu. Liu also went to Inner Mongolia many times to study with master Zhen Li.
From 1999 to 2000, he performed at a series of concerts at the National Concert Hall in Taipei. In 2000 and 2005, he performed several recitals in Taichung and Nantou. In 2014, he had another recital in Tainan. In 2016, he was invited to perform with Shanghai Chinese Orchestra.
Liu has published several collections of sheet music and textbooks, and he also composed. He is currently a lecturer at the Chinese Music Department of Tainan National University of the Arts and Tainan University of Technology.

Growing up in Nantou County, Taiwan, Chiu began to learn music at a young age. She started to learn alto sheng from the school principal Mr. Mu-Yen Liu. She later graduated from the Chinese Music Department of Tainan National University of the Arts, where she majored in sheng and studied with Hui-Peng Tsai, Wen-Chi Lin, and Chin-Chuan Wei. She has asked for advice from famous Chinese musicians like Guanglu Li and Zhenfa Weng. Chiu also minored in piano and flute.
Chiu won three times in a row in the National Student Competition of Music, including two first prizes in 2005 and 2007 and a second prize in 2006. In 2009, she performed in the concert held by the well-acknowledged Mr. Guanglu Li and received great responses. Chiu held her own graduation showcase in 2012 and a recital in 2015, in which she won great acclaims by performing a series of aboriginal folk songs and modern pieces with lusheng, traditional sheng, and soprano sheng.

Tu was born in Tainan City in 1967. He was admitted into the Department of Chinese Music of Chinese Culture University in 1989, majoring in suona and minoring in dizi. His mentors were Sung-Hui Liu, Chin-Tsai Kuo, and Jung-Hsing Cheng. In 1990, he won the third prize during the traditional Chinese music competition. In 1991, he was invited to perform at a variety TV show. In 1991, he traveled to the United States to perform with Kaohsiung City Chinese Orchestra. In 2000, he went to perform in Australia and participated in the recording of two Chinese music albums. In the same year, Tu joined TCTO and continued to perform with the band. In 2008, he participated in the recording of another album “Drum Music Land,” which was nominated by the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards. During the past ten years, he not only taught suona in Tainan University of Technology and other schools, but also served as judges for many competitions. He also continued to record albums with the music group “Ten Drum Art Percussion Group.”

Shen was born in Kaohsiung and is currently a percussion player of TCTO. She graduated from the Department of Chinese Music of National Taiwan School of Arts, and is now a student of the Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology of Tainan National University of the Arts.
Shen has studied percussion instruments with professors Yao-Fen Chen, Te-Hua Shih, Shu-Fen Shao, Hsiung Li-Min, Chen-Kui Li, Hui Li and Chin-Pin Lin. She also studied Chinese percussion with master Hok-Man Yim, Xinjiang hand drum with Yi-Dong Ng, waist drum with Sheng-Bao Zheng, jiangzhou drums with Bao-Tsan Wang, Uzbekistan hand drum with Abbos Kosimov, and lion drum with Yuan-Jung Chang. She also seeked for advice from other masters, and she has learned jazz drumming with Tony Chiang from the band “Naga.”
In recent years, Shen was invited to Europe and China to perform, and she took part in many showcases that combined traditional music with modern styles. In 2001, she was invited to perform with KCCO, and for three years she played during the opening and closing ceremonies if the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival. In 2007, she performed at the Taipei Traditional Arts Festival, and in 2010, she was invited to perform at the Taipei International Flora Exposition. Shen also collaborated with different music groups such as Taipei Chinese Orchestra, National Chinese Orchestra Taiwan, Kaohsiung City Chinese Orchestra, and Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra. In 2014, she was invited by the founder of L’Enfant Sauvage Physical Theatre, Sunteck Yao, to compose and perform for his show.
