In order to promote wind band music to the residents, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Tainan City Government is holding the “2017 Tainan Wind Band Arts Festival” from June to August, 2017. The opening ceremony was held in the afternoon on 27th May (Saturday). There was a grand parade departing from Xinhua elementary school at 1:20 p.m. and a live performance at 3 sharp in Xinhua Sport Park. 11 performing groups attended the parade and brought numerous kinds of shows to the public.
This year, the Tainan Wind Band Arts Festival starts from 27th May to 27th August. There will be more than 30 brilliant performances provided by 49 performing groups. Tainan City invites not only the traditional local groups but also several well-known artists for this Festival. Music lovers should get ready for the series of concerts from 1st to 5th August, since it is presented by Tainan Symphonic Band and the famous musician François Rousselot from France. Other renowned artists such as Jérôme Laran, Philippe Geiss and Hiroshi Hara are going to hold great concerts in Tainan Cultural Center. Tavocan cultural plaza was officially founded by Tainan City Government in 2015, the year when Tainan Symphonic Band was formed. In the same year, Tainan City held the first wind band festival to celebrate the band’s foundation, which attracted lots of residents to join the occasion. Tainan Symphonic Band also drew more than 4,000 people to attend their performance in 2016.
