In a place where the dead outnumber the living and ghoulish rumors fly, our protagonist discovers humanity far more often than the supernatural. The deceased are given starkly ironic nicknames: the hanged are called "Swings," jumpers are "Peter Pans," decomposed bodies are "The Hulks," and carbon monoxide victims are "Little Blacks."
